“You can never be overdressed or overeducated.” – Oscar Wilde
The summer is at its peak and many of you are now or soon enjoying your summer holidays – and rightfully so. But the times when you could afford to spend all your summer just sunbathing on the beach or simply doing nothing might be a thing of the past. In today’s economic climate, competition on the job market is getting tougher and employers look for versatile employees. And as the world is getting more and more digital, knowing some code or at least having some deeper understanding on how computers work is one of the skills that make a job candidate really stand out and are a huge asset on the job market today. This is especially true for journalists and digital marketers. Also entrepreneurs can benefit greatly from having programming skills.
You might think that web programming in the summer doesn’t sound like anything fun at all. Luckily for you, there are websites dedicated to making learning web programming a fun and pleasant experience. Go and check out these:
The Summer of Learning: A free on-line course to learn HTML5. It starts on the July 23rd, 2012 and will run for 30 days. The idea looks very nice and there are over 7 000 participants already. Don’t miss your chance to learn this soon-to-be-big programming language for free.
These are my suggestions. If you know of any other sites, please share them in the comments section! And if you take part in Course Hero or The Summer of Learning then let me know what you think!
